Through the Heart of the ‘Hoods’

This docu-video was made to show the differences between one of the poorest and one of the better-off neighborhoods of the city of Denver. However, while working on the streets video-taping, I realized that the poor ‘hood’ had so much more life, more folk, more, personality… Thus, I decided not to include any footage from the rich neighborhood, and this turned to be a somewhat promotional video for the beauty of ‘the hoods.’ This video is part of a bigger project that involve, as well, this online blogging, and another part that has not yet been performed, but that will be posted in here as soon as I get done with it.

This is not a satire of the people who inhabit this and other not-rich neighborhoods, although some people might see it like that, as I’ve been told by one or two people when I presented it after a closed audience. Satirizing and mocking about these people would be the last thing I would like to do.

I must say that often times artists make use of elements that may induce some sort of satire, but if at all, the satire is against the rich people who create their hermetic surroundings that lack all that “flavor” that the other ‘hood’ have.
